Baseball Recap: Clements Victorious

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Clements and Rogers, and Clements kept the tradition alive. The Colts sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Pirates on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Colts have won by just one run.

Clements got a big performance out of Grayson Borden, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Borden is becoming a predictor of the Colts' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Girodo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Clements pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Rogers, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Clements will venture away from home to challenge Colbert County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rogers, they will head out to square off against Wilson at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
