After both having extra time off, the Jefferson Eagles and the Delavan-Darien Comets will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Delavan-Darien is facing Jefferson at the wrong time: Jefferson suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 3-0 to the Blackhawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since October 22, 2024.
Jefferson was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fort Atkinson work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Delavan-Darien had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Whippets as they made off with a 3-0 win.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Delavan-Darien was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-7.
Delavan-Darien's victory bumped their record up to 21-12. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 18-15.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Jefferson has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Delavan-Darien struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
