The Sunnyside Blue Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the La Habra Highlanders at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
Sunnyside had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Nogales on Tuesday. Sunnyside put the hurt on Nogales with a sharp 17-0 victory.

Anyssa Pacho was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sunnyside let Michelle Pena and Soleil Ponce run wild. Pena scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Ponce scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Garcia, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
Sunnyside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Habra, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Kennedy on Tuesday.
Samantha Cervantes looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, La Habra saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Eliana Corona also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Sunnyside's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for La Habra, their record now sits at 5-2.
La Habra's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sunnyside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .576. It's a different story for La Habra, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Sunnyside's hitters?
