The Orestimba Warriors will square off against the Ripon Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orestimba knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Ripon likes a good challenge.
Orestimba's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Hilmar. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won six in a row.
Hailey Starr was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sophia Machado was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Salece Machado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Orestimba was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilmar only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Ripon's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 8-2 to East Union.
Angelina Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Alana Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabelle Spurzem, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Orestimba's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Ripon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orestimba hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Ripon struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
