Edgewood hasn't had much luck against Ross recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will host the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Edgewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
While Edgewood's victory against Bellbrook wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Golden Eagles a 1-0 shutout on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
The result came thanks to Leigha Combs's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Edgewood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colbie Burwick, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Evie Short also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Ross came up short against Western Brown on Saturday and fell 7-3. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Meadow Webb put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Webb was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Kailyn May was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Josi Alvis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Ross' defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Edgewood, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Edgewood couldn't quite get it done against Ross when the teams last played back in May of 2025 as they fell 4-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
