South Davidson extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 4-15. They came up short against the North Stokes Vikings, falling 13-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat last Tuesday.
Payton Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and nine unearned) runs on 11 hits.
On the hitting side, Cadence Hash made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for North Stokes, they moved to 9-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On North Stokes' side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lillie Chaney gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Chaney.
At the plate, North Stokes got a massive performance out of Rosalyn Mitchell, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabbi Greer, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Looking ahead, South Davidson will head out on the road to face off against Lexington Senior at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Stokes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
