ThunderRidge is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out to square off against the Castle View Sabercats at 4:15 p.m. ThunderRidge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, ThunderRidge didn't have quite enough to beat Valor Christian and fell 4-3. The matchup marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
ThunderRidge got a good showing from Jayden Goertz, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Goertz has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Shane Christy made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Castle View didn't have quite enough to beat Legend on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The Sabercats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Castle View also got a good showing from Jack Carmichael, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the first time Carmichael hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in April of 2025.
At the plate, Castle View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breck Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
ThunderRidge's record now sits at 6-4. As for Castle View, their record is now 4-9.
Castle View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: ThunderRidge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Castle View, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given ThunderRidge's sizable advantage in that area, the Sabercats will need to find a way to close that gap.
ThunderRidge might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Castle View when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
