Jaylah Mercer was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 20 points along with 7 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Essex's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Self, who scored 5 points along with 15 rebounds and 6 blocks.
King William's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Essex, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King William will face off against Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Essex, they will head out on the road to face off against Charles City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Charles City is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
