Softball Recap: Lakota Sets Scoring Season-High Against Danbury

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakota). They were the clear victors by a 26-10 margin over the Danbury Lakers on Saturday. Considering the Raiders have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kailynn Smith, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Moon, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.

Lakota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .653. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lakota is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Danbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Lakota and Danbury are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Raiders will challenge Woodmore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Danbury, they will be taking part in a tournament against Calvert at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Senecas have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
