The Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils will face off against the Camp Verde Cowboys at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Cruz Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Camp Verde will be coming in after a loss.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Santa Cruz Valley and Coolidge, and Santa Cruz Valley kept the tradition alive. Santa Cruz Valley won by a run and slipped past Coolidge 8-7.
Alyssa Flores looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Santa Cruz Valley let Mariah Davis and Tatiyana Reyes run wild. Davis went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Reyes scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Brown, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Camp Verde might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Bisbee who claimed the real prize. Camp Verde took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bisbee. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Clancy Murdock made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Adamari Martinez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Even though they lost, Camp Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Camp Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Santa Cruz Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Camp Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
