Shenango has gone 8-2 against Freedom Area recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Shenango is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Shenango came up short against Laurel and fell 5-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Shenango saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Byerly, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Zoe Offie was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Freedom Area got the win against Aliquippa on Monday by a conclusive 18-8. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Quips: they've now won seven in a row.
Harmony Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. Martin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mackenzie Mohrbacher was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Haydan Baucan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Freedom Area picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-13. As for Shenango, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Freedom Area's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Shenango has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Freedom Area, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Shenango keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Everything went Shenango's way against Freedom Area when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Shenango made off with an 18-1 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
