This season hasn't been kind to the Florence Huskies, who are still winless after their fourth contest. Their tough 67-45 loss to Crowley County on Saturday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Crowley County is ranked 51st).
Despite the loss, Florence had strong showings from Jaret Lozano, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds, and Garrett Royer, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Royer's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Phillips, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Florence were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Florence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Crowley County, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence will take on Rye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rye is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Crowley County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Swallows Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m. Hopefully Swallows Charter Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
