The Cornerstone Eagles lost against the Altamont Knights last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Cornerstone fell to the Knights 57-51. Cornerstone has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone lost, one person who can't be blamed is Abdul Lanier. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lanier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was De'Marion Burks, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.
Cornerstone has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Altamont, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.
Cornerstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Altamont won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Westminster School at Oak Mountain will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
