Softball Recap: Olean Extends Winning Streak to Three

Olean waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Jamestown Red Raiders 17-1. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Amelia Jones and Tiana Maine made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Jones tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Maine tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Jones went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Maine went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Maine a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ari Finch was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anna Bates, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Olean's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Jamestown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olean will take on Dunkirk at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.09 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jamestown, they will challenge Fredonia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
