The Roxborough Wolves are on the road again on Thursday and plays String Theory at 3:45 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in Roxborough's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
Roxborough pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-57 to Germantown Friends.
The losing side was boosted by Stefan Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Sahir Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, String Theory came up short against the Patriots on Thursday and fell 55-45.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jason Pezzetti, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dawud Jones, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Roxborough's record now sits at 16-5. String Theory's record is now 9-9.
Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Roxborough have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like String Theory struggles in that department as they've made 37% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Roxborough came up short against the when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 62-52. Can Roxborough avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
