Kofa will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Tolleson extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Wolverines' pitchers stepped up to hand Valley Vista a 17-0 shutout. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.
Trinity Preciado and Sammie Ortega did most of the damage at the plate: Preciado went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI, while Ortega scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Ortega a new career-high. Alisson Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Tolleson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Kofa made easy work of San Luis on Thursday and carried off a 13-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Kings.
Charlize Anaya made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Anaya was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Hailey Alvarez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kiya Sayre, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Tolleson's win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Kofa, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
