Softball Recap: Onaga Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Onaga extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Valley Heights. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Buffaloes have won 19 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Willow Hochstedler made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Addison DeChant was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Marissa Sauvage was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Onaga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Onaga's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Valley Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Coming up, Onaga will challenge Bluestem at 1:00 p.m. on the 29th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Buffaloes 3.2, the Lions 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Valley Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
