The George West Longhorns pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mathis. Even though they lost, George West's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
George West lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tristen Blevins, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Blevins continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Bernal, who scored ten points.
Ashton Quesada continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mathis, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Quesada has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Brandon Reed was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.
George West has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Mathis, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11.
George West will face off against Odem at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mathis, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Aransas Pass at 7:30 p.m.
