The Cane Bay Cobras can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Timberland out 40-37. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but Cane Bay was the better team in the second half.
Leading Cane Bay to victory were Anai Custodio and LaChar Lawrence. Custodio scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Lawrence scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Custodio grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Carmichael, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Timberland saw an underclassman step up: Zion Prioleau scored 19 points along with three steals. Prioleau also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Tashee Roberts was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Cane Bay's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for Timberland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Cane Bay will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wando at 6:00 p.m. Wando has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Timberland will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Academic Magnet at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Academic Magnet focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Wednesday.
