The Little Village Phoenix were the 26-4 winner over the DuSable Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Little Village took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of DuSable on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Little Village has lost by exactly 13 points.
DuSable can attribute much of their success to Damaya Plant, who scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Plant has scored at least 25% of DuSable's points. Another player making a difference was Lanae Harris, who scored 10 points.
Little Village now has a losing record at 3-4. As for DuSable, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Little Village will take on Harlan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harlan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for DuSable, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Corliss at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Corliss' defense has only allowed 19.4 points per game this season, so DuSable's offense will have their work cut out for DuSable.
