Bradley-Bourbonnais is a perfect 9-0 against Homewood-Flossmoor since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Boilermakers will host the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Bradley-Bourbonnais' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Homewood-Flossmoor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Bradley-Bourbonnais is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lincoln-Way West, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Bradley-Bourbonnais was ranked 16th). The Boilermakers came up short against the Warriors on Tuesday, falling 17-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Boilermakers, who until this game were averaging 3.42 runs allowed.
Bristol Schriefer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Avery Moutrey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Homewood-Flossmoor narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Manteno 8-7.
The team relied heavily on Izzy Thurman, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Demi Chaney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Homewood-Flossmoor has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bradley-Bourbonnais hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Homewood-Flossmoor struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bradley-Bourbonnais took their win against Homewood-Flossmoor in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Boilermakers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
