The Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 58-45 victory over Roncalli Catholic. This was payback for Ashland-Greenwood, who suffered a 72-70 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Ashland-Greenwood can attribute much of their success to Drake Zimmerman, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Zimmerman scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dane Jacobsen, who scored 12 points.
Ashland-Greenwood pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Roncalli Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Ashland-Greenwood and Falls City will face off on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Falls City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Ashland-Greenwood is ranked 19th). Roncalli Catholic and Platteview will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Platteview will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
