Morgan (Utah) saw its 10-point lead dwindle to three, but still managed to hang on and beat
Bear River (Garland, Utah) 24-21 on Saturday.
The Trojans led 10-7 at halftime, but the Bears recaptured the lead on a touchdown pass by
Kyle Zundel to
Wade Miller with 5:00 remaining in the third. Morgan finally took the lead for good as it ran for a touchdown with 2:00 left in the third quarter.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at three.
Zundel made a difference for Bear River. He threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to nine on the year.
A 48-12 Morgan victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Trojans, which lost to Stansbury last week, 29-28. The loss comes after Bear River defeated Ben Lomond 47-12 last week. The loss snapped BR's 2-game winning streak.
In a 3A Region 11 game next week Morgan (4-3) takes on Tooele, and Bear River (4-3) will go up against Grantsville also in a 3A Region 11 game.
