The East Leopards suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-35 walloping at the hands of Highland. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points East has scored all season.
East's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Dodd, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Sutton, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
East struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
George Mcconkie was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds for Highland. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcconkie has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Anderton, who scored 14 points.
East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Highland, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
East's road trip will continue as they head out to face West at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. West is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Highland, they will be playing at home against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Skyline is ranked 35th, while Highland is ranked 13th).
