North Side has gone 8-2 against Polytechnic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Steers will look to defend their home field against the Parrots at 7:00 p.m. North Side has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North Side fell victim to Paschal and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-0 to the Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Steers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Polytechnic). They never let Wyatt get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Parrots in their matchups with the Chaparrals: they've now won four in a row.
Hector Ruiz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adan Cerda, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Polytechnic is 2-1 when Cerda posts three or more RBI, but 3-14 otherwise. Nathan Acosta was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Polytechnic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
North Side's loss dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Polytechnic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-15.
North Side was able to grind out a solid win over Polytechnic when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 8-4. Do the Steers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Parrots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
