On Tuesday, First Baptist Christian came up short against Garfield Heights and fell 44-34. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as First Baptist Christian came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Garfield Heights is ranked 494th).
Garfield Heights found their leader in underclassman Journey Rencher , who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Rencher 's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stacia Mobley, who scored eight points.
First Baptist Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Garfield Heights, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Baptist Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Our Lady of the Elms at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. As for Garfield Heights, they will face off against Bard Early College at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
