West Liberty-Salem extended the longest winning streak in Ohio Heritage this week by beating Greeneview, 48-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Tigers.
Northeastern was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Jets vanquished Catholic Central 28-18 earlier in the week.
Mechanicsburg's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Colin VERNON threw for 102 yards and Austin MILLEDGE had 73 yards receiving. On the ground Joe ZIEGLER chipped in 39 yards. Brandon PURK helped Mechanicsburg's passing attack out by catching two balls for 10 yards.
Mechanicsburg's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. VERNON has thrown for 1099 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while PURK has 39 catches for 725 yards. Aeryton ERWIN leads the league in rushing with 635 yards.
Two of the top units in Ohio Heritage will face off this week when the Indians take on West Liberty-Salem. Mechanicsburg's offense has racked up 153 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Toby Smith's team has allowed only 92 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kurt Forrest's team takes on the Tigers. As it stands, the Indians are in sixth, while West Liberty-Salem is in first.
The Tigers took down the Rams 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
