The Alexandria Valley Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Jacksonville on the road by a decisive 40-21 margin. Alexandria was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jacksonville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
Jacksonville can attribute much of their success to Deasia Prothro, who scored eight points along with six steals. Prothro has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Swain, who scored six points along with three steals.
Alexandria bumped their record down to 5-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.2 points per game. As for Jacksonville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.
Alexandria will be home for the holidays to greet Anniston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anniston is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Jacksonville, they will head out on the road to face off against Cleburne County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
