Softball Game Preview: Flour Bluff Hornets vs. Alice Coyotes

Flour Bluff is a perfect 4-0 against Alice since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Flour Bluff Hornets will head out to challenge the Alice Coyotes at 12:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Flour Bluff's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Ray. Considering the Hornets have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kenzie O'Brien tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Mayo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Veda Pressley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Flour Bluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Alice can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Ray 14-3.

Flour Bluff has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. Alice's win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Flour Bluff took their victory against Alice in their previous matchup back in April of 2016 by a conclusive 17-0. Will Flour Bluff repeat their success, or does Alice have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
