The West Springfield Terriers lost against the Pittsfield Generals back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. West Springfield was beaten by Pittsfield 81-52. While losing is never fun, West Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Pittsfield is ranked 51st).
Pittsfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makai Shepardson, who scored 16 points. Da'Sean Brown was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
West Springfield has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Pittsfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
West Springfield will head out on the road to take on Holyoke at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holyoke knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully West Springfield likes a good challenge. As for Pittsfield, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Minnechaug Regional at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Pittsfield is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66 points per game this season.
