The Delphi Community Oracles will head out to take on the West Lafayette Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Delphi Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Delphi Community got the win against Marquette Catholic by a conclusive 15-7. The victory continues a trend for the Oracles in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now won five in a row.
Brett Huffman was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Levi Coghill was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Delphi Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, West Lafayette lost 8-2 to Crawfordsville on Saturday. The Red Devils have struggled against the Athenians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Calvin Snyder made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Delphi Community's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for West Lafayette, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
West Lafayette's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Delphi Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for West Lafayette, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Delphi Community's hitters?
Delphi Community suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to West Lafayette in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Oracles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
