The Elizabeth Minutemen took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over Westfield. That's another feather in the cap for Elizabeth, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Elizabeth's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Siraj Abdellah, who scored 13 points. London Carson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Elizabeth's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Elizabeth will take on Saddle River Day in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Westfield will be home for the holidays to greet Linden at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
