The Acalanes Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Valley Christian 62-57. While losing is never fun, Acalanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Valley Christian is ranked 195th).
Acalanes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Dodge, who scored 17 points. Dodge scored a full 29.8% of Acalanes' points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Preston Hilsabeck, who scored 12 points.
Acalanes' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Valley Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Acalanes will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Concord is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Valley Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Christopher at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
