The Northbridge Rams fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Nipmuc Regional Warriors on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Warriors 76-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Wednesday (56), Northbridge still had to take the loss.
Nipmuc Regional's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James McKinney, who scored 19 points. The matchup was McKinney's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan DeMarzo , who scored 15 points.
Northbridge bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Nipmuc Regional, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northbridge will finish 2023 at home by hosting Prouty at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Nipmuc Regional will finish 2023 at home by hosting Oxford at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
