The North Newton Spartans will face off against the Bowman Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Newton will be strutting in after a victory while Bowman Academy will be coming in after a loss.
North Newton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Tri-County 42-6. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 22-point advantage.
North Newton found their leader in freshman Dayton Oxley, who threw for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Bryce Gibson was another key player, picking up 88 receiving yards and one score.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something North Newton proved: they limited Tri-County to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Aaron Turner for the heroic effort on defense: he. North Newton's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 2.47 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.37 on average over their last five games.

North Newton's defense also made the game a nightmare for Aiden Duniphan, racking up seven sacks. In that department, Turner was the leader with three. He has become a key player for North Newton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two sacks, but 2-4 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Bowman Academy fell victim to Knox and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were dealt a 64-0 defeat at the hands of the Redskins. Having soared to a lofty 47 points in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
North Newton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bowman Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.
North Newton might still be hurting after the 40-14 defeat they got from Bowman Academy in their previous meeting on October 4th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Eagles' King Whisenton, who rushed for 178 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Now that the Spartans know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
