The Geneseo Maple Leafs will head out to challenge the Rock Island Rocks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Geneseo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
While Geneseo's victory against Kewanee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Maple Leafs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over the Boilermakers on Saturday.
Mackenzie Air tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lillian Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Remlee Dwyer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Geneseo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 13 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Rock Island beat Hononegah 10-5 on Saturday.
Maddie Carroll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, AJ Lincoln was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ella DeJonghe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Geneseo pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Rock Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Geneseo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Rock Island struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Geneseo couldn't quite get it done against Rock Island in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Maple Leafs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
