The Ferguson Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ferguson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Ferguson took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against iMater Charter as Ferguson made off with a 10-4 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jose Rijo looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Zachary Alfonso was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ryan Alfonso was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Ferguson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens posted their closest victory since April 29, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunset, sneaking past 4-2.
Ryan Valdes looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hialeah Gardens is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-7 otherwise.
At the plate, Carlos Victorero was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jerry Sosa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Hialeah Gardens' record now sits at 4-7. As for Ferguson, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-6-1.
Ferguson came out on top in a nail-biter against Hialeah Gardens in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ferguson since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
