Basketball Recap: Irmo Triumphs + How To Watch

Irmo won against T.L. Hanna on Saturday with 68 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Yellow Jackets pulled ahead with a 68-67 photo finish over the Pickens Blue Flame. While the Yellow Jackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Irmo was led to victory by Lailah Singletary and Janiyah Stokes. Singletary went 9-for-19 en route to 34 points, while Stokes shot 75% from the field on her way to 19 points along with five boards and three steals. The game was Singletary's 12th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Ross, who posted five points.

Irmo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Pickens had strong showings from Braelynn Hardin, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds, and Addison Mitchum, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 25 points and three steals. Mitchum continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Emersyn Moldovan was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Irmo's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. As for Pickens, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Irmo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-41 defeat against Laurens on the 23rd. As for Pickens, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
