The Fort Myers Green Wave will face off against the Braden River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fort Myers is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Mariner as they made off with a 12-2 win. Fort Myers' victory was all the more impressive since the Tritons were averaging only 3.79 runs allowed on the season.
Lolly Lane looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Gianni Torres was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Tori Fulcher also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Fort Myers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mariner only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, while Braden River put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Riverdale. The Pirates blew past the Raiders 9-0. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on four straight.
Kaydence Evans was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Kasch and Evelyn Paul did most of the damage at the plate: Kasch went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Paul went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Cady Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Fort Myers' record is now 15-10. As for Braden River, their record now sits at 21-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fort Myers has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Braden River struggles in that department as they've averaged .526. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Myers got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 against Braden River by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Green Wave repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
