Eastern Tech and Catonsville are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mavericks will head out to square off against the Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastern Tech has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eastern Tech's last matchup with Carver A&T could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Mavericks lost 21-3 to the Wildcats. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Catonsville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 11-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaia Gross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emily Meiller was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Barrone, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Catonsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Catonsville's record now sits at 10-8. As for Eastern Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Eastern Tech skirted past Catonsville 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
