Jack Britt is 8-2 against Lumberton since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Jack Britt Buccaneers will head out on the road to square off against the Lumberton Pirates at 12:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jack Britt can't be too worried about heading out to take on Lumberton: they just beat South View at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Jack Britt walked away with a 50-43 victory over South View on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Buccaneers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Tigers are ranked 52nd).

Jack Britt's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Desaya Ellis, who posted eight points in addition to 19 rebounds and three steals. Ellis has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last five times she's played. Aaliyah Mcrae was another key player, going 6-for-12 on her way to 20 points.
Jack Britt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Lumberton's game on Tuesday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Seventy-First by a score of 46-38. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.
Jack Britt better keep an eye on Andrea Brown. She was instrumental in Lumberton's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Lumberton's points. Sanaa Lesane also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Lumberton pushed their record up to 18-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. As for Jack Britt, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jack Britt has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Lumberton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Jack Britt came up short against Lumberton in their previous meeting back in January, falling 51-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards. Now that Jack Britt knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
