1A - North recap Oct. 16, 2012
Duchesne extended the longest winning streak in 1A - North this week by beating Monticello, 21-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Altamont took down Monument Valley 50-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Trent Roberts and Matt Muir gave Duchesne a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Roberts threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns, while Muir ran for 52 yards. Kaden Moon also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.
Markiece Gross was the best wideout in the league this week as Layton Christian Academy lost to Summit Academy. Gross tallied two receptions for 61 yards.
Noah Kramer made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Eagles fell to Summit Academy. The freshman forced one fumble.
6-foot-0 quarterback Christian Miller of Scott Gorringe's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1005. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Jerry Cowan's team's Moon has rushed for 608 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is McKade Nielsen. The Duchesne star has 17 catches for 409 yards.
A big matchup in 1A - North this week will be when the Eagles take on the Longhorns. At the moment, Duchesne is in first, while Altamont is in fourth.
Mick Fieldsted's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Cougars.
