Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Langtree Charter Academy). They came out on top against the Mountain Island Charter Raptors by a score of 84-71 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Mountain Island Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christan Jones went 11 for 21 on his way to 32 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The game was Jones' 14th in a row with at least ten points. Tavien Julius was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Langtree Charter Academy's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-8. As for Mountain Island Charter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Langtree Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Community School of Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Davidson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Langtree Charter Academy likes a good challenge. As for Mountain Island Charter, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Bradford Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Island Charter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
