Jacob Harms made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Ranchview let Jack Samford and Zane Gonzalez run wild. Samford scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Gonzalez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most runs Samford has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Diamond Hill-Jarvis was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Castleberry by a score of 3-1.
Like Ranchview, Diamond Hill-Jarvis also got a great game from a two-way player: MARCIANO RIOS. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. RIOS was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Diamond Hill-Jarvis' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Ranchview, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Diamond Hill-Jarvis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ranchview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. It's a different story for Diamond Hill-Jarvis, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Ranchview's hitters?
Ranchview skirted past Diamond Hill-Jarvis 6-4 in their previous meeting back in February of 2017. Does Ranchview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Diamond Hill-Jarvis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
