Southampton Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Fuqua Falcons 19-4. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 13 runs or more this season.

Landon Cushing made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Ethan Webb and Ayden Darden did most of the damage at the plate: Webb got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Darden got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Webb has become a key player for Southampton Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tyler Jarratt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Southampton Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Southampton Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Fuqua, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Southampton Academy will host TEACH Homeschool at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fuqua, they will head out on the road to face off against Kenston Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kavaliers have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
