Baseball Recap: Hondo Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hondo came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Orange Grove Bulldogs by a score of 6-2.

Josiah Quintanilla made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Quintanilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Hondo's record is now 18-5-1. As for Orange Grove, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hondo will take on Falfurrias on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Owls 3, the Fightin' Jerseys 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Orange Grove, they will challenge Taft on Thursday.
