The Hardaway Hawks waltzed into their game on Friday with 13 straight wins but they left with 14. They blew past Cairo 87-14 at home. Hardaway has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 23 points or more this season.
Hardaway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikayla Johnson, who scored 12 points along with seven steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of La?niya Meeks, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Several Syrupmakers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makhia Evers, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cairo struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hardaway racked up ten assists.
Hardaway pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.67 points. As for Cairo, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Hardaway won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northside at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Northside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Hardaway is ranked 44th). As for Cairo, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Westover at 6:00 p.m.
