Sadly, the Western Harnett Eagles are still looking for their first win of the season after 21 contests. The game between them and Chatham Central wasn't particularly close, with Western Harnett falling 53-39. While losing is never fun, Western Harnett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 618th, while Chatham Central is ranked 179th).
It was another big night for Jacob Gilliland, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Chatham Central. Gilliland also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Albright, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Western Harnett's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Chatham Central, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Harnett won't have much time to rest: their next match is against E.E. Smith at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully E.E. Smith focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday. As for Chatham Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Northwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
