The Will Rogers College Ropers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Sapulpa Chieftains on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 67-59 to the Chieftains. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Will Rogers College's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dkarrion Titsworth, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jay Oates iii was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Will Rogers College are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12. As for Sapulpa, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Will Rogers College will be playing in front of their home fans against Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Sapulpa, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Holland Hall at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Holland Hall presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sapulpa in Oklahoma (Holland Hall is ranked 19th, while Sapulpa is ranked 130th).
