The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles were the 51-28 winner over the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lutheran-Northeast received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 50-34 to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. While losing is never fun, Lutheran-Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is ranked 79th).
Despite the loss, Lutheran-Northeast still got an impressive performance from Emerson Scott, who scored ten points. Scott continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kendra Petersen, who scored six points.
Lutheran-Northeast struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge found their leader in underclassman Rena Rasmussen, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Rasmussen is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaida Eriksen, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Lutheran-Northeast has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which is still a better percentage than their 4-16 record this season. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7.
Lutheran-Northeast will look to defend their home court on Friday against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] at 6:15 p.m. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is on the road again on Thursday and plays Wisner-Pilger at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Wisner-Pilger has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
